Local media companies have been accused of “fake news” and “paid content” by many users online, and now the media is fighting back by complaining in blog posts.

“We’re not paid off by companies we write about. We only run stories they would like us to,” said one blog post from a local media company.

“Fake news” has long been a problem in the news world, but people have just started to complain about it on Facebook since around 2016.

“I was one of the first people to get pissed off at ‘fake news’ in 2016, and I continue to be very upset about it,” said one person who ‘likes’ all of the local media companies on Facebook.

Paid articles by local media companies continue to plague news coverage in the Sioux Falls area, and there seems to be no end in sight.

“It is up to people to do their own research on subjects they see online. We cannot control what they see,” said one post paid for by a local advertisement company.

Facebook and other local companies have promised to cut down on ‘fake news’ and ‘clickbait’, but continue to make money to throw your sensitive information to the advertising wolves.

This article was paid for by one local Sioux Falls company.
